Are you feeling the need to decompress after the holidays? Are you making a New Year’s resolution to simplify your life? Are you interested in sharing your ideas with like-minded people?

Join Indian Creek Nature Center and Prairiewoods Franciscan Spirituality Center for a six-week simplicity discussion series. We will be using the Northwest Earth Institute‘s Voluntary Simplicity course, and the fee for the program ($30) includes the text needed for the series.

Need to find out more before committing? Not a problem! The first class is free! Join us at Prairiewoods on Tuesday, January 5th from 6:30 to 7:30 PM for the first session. The rest of the classes will be at the same time on Tuesday nights, with the January 12th and 19th classes at Prairiewoods and the January 26th, February 2nd and 9th at ICNC.

Yesterday afternoon, some area homeschoolers hit the powder to try their hand (and feet!) at snowshoeing.

Though it took a little while to get the hang of it, everyone was successful, tired and a little silly by the end.

Are you interested in learning to snowshoe? Indian Creek Nature Center is hosting a snowshoe hike for all ages on Wednesday, December 30th at 10 AM. Try out those snowshoes you got as a holiday gift, or borrow some of our own! For more information, visit the website.

Do you hear what I hear? I think it’s the sound of Nature’s Noel, Indian Creek Nature Center’s holiday sale. It’s fast approaching and will be held this Saturday, December 5th from 9 AM to Noon.

There are so many wonderful things offered at Nature’s Noel, but many visitors don’t get much farther than the soup! If you’re looking for a homemade treat or a easy lunch, our frozen soups can’t be beat!

Our twelve delicious flavors: Tomato Basil, Dilled Potato, Broccoli Cheese, Sauerkraut, Curried Mushroom, New England Clam Chowder, Soup of the Wild (Chicken and Wild Rice), Baked Garlic, Vermont Cheese, Steak, Sausage and White Bean, and Chicken Enchilada.

Of course, there’s a lot more to Nature’s Noel than soup! Come get your fill on frozen cookie dough and appetizers, fresh baked goods, handmade gifts and much more!

Recently the Nature Center received an exciting check in the mail. It wasn’t a large amount ($5.47 to be exact), but it was a product of the efforts of some of our loyal members.

GoodSearch is a Yahoo-powered search engine that donates 50% of its profits to charity. That ends up being about a penny for each time someone searches in the name of their charity.

How does it work? It’s easy! Go to GoodSearch.com, and enter “Indian Creek Nature Center” as the charity of your choice. Each time you return to GoodSearch and use the search engine to find something online, a one-cent donation is made to ICNC. (If you want to get really fancy, add the GoodSearch toolbar to your web browser!)

And that’s it. No cost to you, no extra effort. Easy!

So what do you say? Can we break $6.oo next year?
