Our Be an Amateur Archaeologist camp was a hit! Can you tell what kind of critter these archaeologists are assembling?

This is a photo you will probably be seeing a lot of this year – this was taken from the backyard looking toward the barn (Nature Center headquarters). The ponds are actually part of a natural septic system, and they are lush and very alive right now!
One of my very favorite places on the property – the corner of the north ephemeral pond and beyond that the prairie. The ephemeral ponds are very cool, as they usually only extant in the spring. They are an important part of the life cycle of amphibians because no egg-eating fish live in them!
This tepee is part of our Sense of Wonder Trail, a natural playscape for children. The SoW is accessible any day of the year during daylight hours. Come out and play! Your adventure begins just to the left of the barn!
Wood Duck Way is one of our newest features here on the property. This trail head can be found west of the barn (across the Quillback vehicle bridge). The boardwalk extends through the south ephemeral pond and then a wood chip trail takes you the rest of the way to the Lynch Wetland.
